Vote to Help Ms. Bonnie Feed Thousands of Children and Families in Tampa Bay
Ms. Bonnie James, and her organization Kingdom Kids of Tampa Bay, Inc., has an opportunity to win a $20,000 Holiday Pantry Makeover grant from Walmart. Last year, the “Extraordinary Ordinary” Ms. Bonnie and her organization distributed 18,307 meals in the Tampa Bay area. Your vote can help her continue this sacrificial and heartfelt work in our community!!
TAMPA FLORIDA, November 28, 2014 – Ms. Bonnie James was recently spotlighted on Fox 13 Extraordinary Ordinaries for her selfless work in the Tampa Bay area, through her organization Kingdom Kids of Tampa Bay, Inc. Last year, Kingdom Kids was nominated by Feeding America Tampa Bay to win a $20,000 Fighting Hunger Together grant from Walmart. After a 30-day Facebook voting campaign, Kingdom Kids was one of 60 partner agencies (out of 178) to receive the $20,000 Walmart grant. As a result, Kingdom Kids and its partners distributed 18,307 meals in the Tampa Bay community. This year, Walmart has selected Kingdom Kids as a finalist to win a $20,000 Holiday Pantry Makeover grant, which will be used to secure a permanent home. Kingdom Kids needs your vote to continue their work in the Tampa Bay area.
Funding for child hunger programs is especially critical given the significant need that exists. According to the USDA, more than 16 million children in the United States struggle with hunger. In 2010, Florida was listed as one of the top five states with the highest rate of food insecure children under 18 (Ibid). Here in Hillsborough County, there are an estimated 250,000 children who struggle with hunger.
The public can vote for Kingdom Kids of Tampa Bay, Inc. beginning on Tuesday, December 2nd at 12:01 AM EST on the voting site at http://www.walmart.com/holidaymakeover until Friday, December 12th at 11:59 PM EST. Voters can award one “vote” a day by locating on the page and clicking on the “vote” button for Kingdom Kids of Tampa Bay. Winners will be announced on Monday, December 15. The proceeds will be used to secure a permanent home for the Kingdom Kids pantry to expand its reach in the Tampa Bay area.
